© The I Project

The I Project is an activism and art organization, fighting gun violence by centering the needs of its stakeholders.

We are a team of queer youth of color under 20, each driven by our belief in the liberatory force of education and discourse. Learn more about our team here.

The I Project is short for The Intersectionality Project. Intersectionality theory was created by Kimberlè Crenshaw to explain the societal circumstances of women of color, particularly Black women.

The I Project prioritizes the inclusion and benefit of the most oppressed subsets, queer women of color, in all of our actions.

"When feminism does not explicitly oppose racism, and when anti-racism does not incorporate opposition to patriarchy, race and gender politics often end up being antagonistic to each other and both interests lose."

-- Kimberlè Crenshaw, "Whose Story Is It Anyway? Feminist and Antiracist Appropriations of Anita Hill"

by Sonja Thompson

We are striving for a world in which every community is an oasis, abundant with the resources needed to grant its members sustainable mobility. Through our work we aim to humanize stakeholders of systemic violence by giving them artistic platforms as well as combat gun violence by addressing its root causes.

We affirm resilience in the face of oppressive systems.

We affirm the humanity of all those subjugated by oppressive systems.

We affirm the collective liberatory struggle of all those subjugated by oppressive systems.
